For Lenders & Professional Advisors
Borrower side credit and financing advisory led by a commercial banking executive who served as Chief Credit Officer and CEO. This page outlines when a client may benefit from experienced borrower side credit and financing advisory.
Overview
Institutional Credit Judgment, Applied on the Borrower’s Side.
GTE is led by a commercial banking executive who served as Chief Credit Officer and CEO, with 23 years of banking experience, including executive lending and credit responsibility at a $2.4 billion nationally chartered commercial bank, with work across C&I, energy, manufacturing, healthcare, and commercial real estate.
GTE applies that same institutional level credit judgment on the borrower’s side to financing, restructuring, lender relationships, and significant financial and transaction decisions. All engagements are confidential, with one goal: position the client to become, or remain, a strong, bankable credit, including with the existing lender when that is the right path.
Typical financing requests range from $500,000 to $30 million. Other referrals may involve stressed debt, lender relationships, financial performance and lender readiness, or complex and unconventional transactions. These are evaluated based on scope and complexity.
What GTE Does
41 Factors. Six Key Decision Areas.
Using GTE’s proprietary 41 Point Financing Capacity & Lender Readiness Assessment, GTE evaluates the client across 41 factors organized into six key decision areas to assess overall credit capacity, identify financial and structural strengths, surface issues likely to concern a lender, and determine where risks can be reduced or mitigated. The assessment is grounded in the type of risk rating discipline institutional lenders use internally but applied on the borrower’s side before the financing request reaches the lender.
From there, GTE develops the analysis and strategy appropriate to the situation. Depending on the engagement, this may include financing structure, a lender ready financing package, lender selection and negotiation, financial performance and lender readiness analysis, risk mitigation and stress testing, or a restructuring and resolution strategy.
When a Referral May Make Sense
A Referral Can Be Worth Exploring When a Client:
- Needs experienced guidance on new financing, a loan renewal, refinancing, or a more complex or unconventional debt structure.
- Has substantially developed the financing strategy but needs a comprehensive lender ready financing package and presentation.
- Needs to strengthen an existing lender relationship or identify, approach, or negotiate with an additional or alternative lender.
- Would benefit from ongoing financial performance and lender readiness analysis to identify emerging risks and remain prepared for future lender discussions.
- Is under financial or lender pressure and needs a credible restructuring, realignment, or resolution strategy before options narrow.
- Is evaluating a business acquisition, sale, or significant ownership transaction and would benefit from independent financial and transaction analysis.
For a referring lender, this often means a quicker, clearer path to a well supported financing or resolution decision. For attorneys and CPAs, it means the client receives experienced credit and financial analysis alongside the legal and accounting work already being provided.
Important Positioning
GTE partners with clients to keep them well prepared and well informed, not to compete with the professionals already involved. GTE does not provide legal or tax advice and works alongside counsel and accountants, not in their place.
